How finding your authentic self brings you inner peace & confidence

Listen Later

In today's solo episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat shares why striving to become your true authentic self will help you to feel happier inside yourself and with your life. As someone who has struggled with people pleasing tendencies and being comfortable with herself since childhood Kat has a wealth of experience on this topic. If you've ever found it difficult to just be yourself and authentically express yourself then this episode is for you.

Key points covered in today's episode:

  • How not being authentic can feel gross, icky and deplete your energy and that when we are in are authentic self it gives us more energy and a positive, expansive, peaceful feeling within the body and mind.
  • That we often create a character to play instead of being authentic as a means of egoic survival and protection and it becomes our learned and seemingly natural behaviour and this all happens subconsciously.
  • Behaving inauthentically is really an indication that there's a part of you that you don't feel is safe to be seen and that you're not giving enough or any love to.
  • We tend to seek the love we crave from outside of ourselves through others and through external validation and this is a natural unconscious process.
  •  If any trauma/pain is involved you may not realise you are being inauthentic and being confronted about it may feel uncomfortable and like an attack.
  • Being triggered helps you create inner awareness and provides you with an opportunity to address your issues should you choose to or until you're ready to.
  • True authenticity is really about allowing yourself to be seen, to be vulnerable, trust who you are and to feel safe in expressing your truth. It represents a deep love for yourself without the need for external validation.
  • To develop your authenticity requires stopping in those moments and questioning how it feels inside your body - doesn't it feel uncomfortable, icky, gross or expansive, light and peaceful and what sensations are going on physically with your gut and heart?
  • An open heart, expansive, peaceful, comfortable feeling indicates you are in your truth and authenticity.
  • We each have very similar feelings and experience's and are all fighting these similar battles inside ourselves therefore you are not different or weird and your are certainly not alone.
