Nobody lives more than twelve years without knowing the deep feeling of loneliness. You are not imagining things: sometimes nobody understands, nobody can help and nobody is coming to the rescue. Yes, there are seasons when God leaves you with no human assistance. That is when He himself becomes everything to you. In King David’s glorious life, there was a season wherein he was unsure how he could go on. He had lost everything and did not have a single person (or so he thought!) in his corner. His words from Psalm 142 express the pain of his loneliness mixed with his heartfelt desire for God to become His lasting hope. What happens in response to David’s cries shows us how, even today, God answers the lonely.
