How GOOD was Dan Hardy Actually?

Dan Hardy is one of the most important figures in British MMA. The man who sported the red mohawk was a technical striker who was able to take hits. This lead to him not only becoming one of the best fighters in England, but in all of Europe. So when he signed with the UFC in 2008, he had a legion of British MMA fans who were excited to see what he can do on the big stage. And he made them proud as he won his first 4 fights with the promotion. This lead to him becoming the first British fighter to fight for a UFC title. But after losing that bout, he went on a 3 fight losing streak and was on cusp of losing his job. So how good was Dan Hardy actually?
