How GOOD was Shogun Rua Actually?

Shogun Rua was an absolute animal. The Brazilian/Italian fighter made a name early on for himself by decimating his opponents in brutal fashion and a lot of that had to due with his signature soccer kicks and stomps. His run in Pride FC is one of the best in the promotions history. And when they got bought out by the UFC, there was a lot of hype surrounding him. Although he had his highs with the promotion, he also had many lows. So how good was Shogun Rua actually?
