'Ask, Seek, Knock'

How Great Is Your God?

Listen Later

This powerful message challenges us to examine the true magnitude of our understanding of God. We often limit God to what we can comprehend, putting Him in a box that fits our expectations. But Scripture reveals a God who is infinitely greater than our imagination. Through the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, we discover a God who fights battles for His people in unexpected ways. When facing overwhelming odds, the king was told not to fight but to worship, and God delivered them through praise rather than military might. This teaches us that God's methods often defy our logic. The account of Elijah in 1 Kings 19 further illustrates this truth. We expect God to appear in dramatic displays of power like wind, earthquake, or fire, yet He came in a still, small voice. This reminds us that God meets each of us personally and differently, not always in the spectacular ways we anticipate. The message culminates with the beautiful illustration of Dick Hoyt carrying his disabled son Ricky through the Ironman competition, swimming, biking, and running with him. This mirrors our relationship with God. Like Ricky, we cannot complete the journey to heaven on our own. Our Heavenly Father does all the work necessary to bring us home. We are invited to trust completely in His greatness, knowing that no matter what challenges lie ahead, including the difficulties of the end times, God is great enough to get us through.
