The science of emotions: When we experience pleasant emotions, we tend to be broader in our thinking, see possibilities, and are happy. When you walk into the office and someone tells you you look amazing, chances are very high that the next person you will meet will receive a smile and if a colleague comes to you with a challenge you will be in a position to engage in problem-solving.

When we feel unpleasant emotions such as being unappreciated, afraid, unloved, and unvalued, we experience the world more worried.  Our brain is very efficient, it looks for efficient ways to deal with problems. The brain engages in a very simplified way of saying fight, freeze or flight.
