A rise in the incidence of kidney cancer may be because of the increased use of imaging techniques. A person who undergoes a computerized tomography or CT scan may learn of tumors in one of their kidneys incidentally. Upstate urologist Oleg Shapiro, MD, explains how kidney cancer is diagnosed and the variety of treatment options, which are based on the patient and the location, size and type of tumor.
