The St Cath's Podcast

How Long, O Lord?

Listen Later

Habakkuk 1
Sermon by Bishop Genieve Blackwell given on 2 December 2018
The prophet Habakkuk lived at the end of the seventh century.  The book of Habakkuk is unique in it's style as a prophetic dialogue with God.  Habakkuk cries out to God, initially in complaint, he recognises why God is punishing his disobedient people, but he does not understand God's actions.  Through this dialogue Habakkuk moves from complaint to confidence.  This short book provides an encouragement to prayer and discernment as we seek to understand the presence of evil in our world today and God's very real, yet often unseen, involvement.
