Eskom says the power situation in the country has reached a very critical point. Spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe says the power system remains constrained even though seven generating units that went offline yesterday are now producing power. He says diesel and water reserves are still very low resulting in the need for loadshedding. Stage-three loadshedding will begin at this hour nationwide until 11pm. Stage-3 loadshedding calls for three-thousand megawatts to be shed from the grid nationally.
