How not to make people lose attention and slowly unsubscribe from your affiliate promotions - Contexter Commerce Let’s continue talking about leverage and how you can use it to quadruple your affiliate marketing success. In this lesson, I am talking about relevance. It is all about relevance - and this is so basic. Marketing 101 but affiliates so miss that it's worth talking about it here to give you an advantage. I don’t know if the day you are reading or listening to this radio is still relevant. But back in the days when it was, I often tried to find some FM frequency with music that I like or a new kind of show to entertain myself. As you know, the process was straightforward, sure you remember it. Start to spin the wheel and then first get some noise, and after some gentle tuning, you will be able to find some show. But the process just started here. Very often, after a few minutes of listening to the channel, I was able to figure out if I need to continue spinning to find something else or not. I don’t need to be a genius to understand that I decided if the show or channel is exciting or not based on an essential internal factor: is it relevant to me or not. And of course, the more relevant the show has on the channel, the more often I will return to that channel again and again, and the more often I will listen to that or other shows on that particular frequency. I will start skipping other channels and frequencies if that channel will continue its trend. And that has a direct connection with the way you are promoting products to your audience or list. The key here is the product you are promoting has to be in perfect harmony with your list and their needs, wants, and willingness to pay for it. It does not mean that if you found out about some latest “gurus” products and started promoting it will not work. It can work and even make you a couple of dozens of sales here and there. Problems appear when this product is not in tune with your existing audience: it does not correlate with their desires, anxieties, hopes, and needs. And maybe not the same day, but slowly, these people start to unsubscribe from you or pay more attention to other places. And that unquestionably will happen because it works the same as if it would work in our example with radio channel search. So the secret here is finding problems that your audience has and, after that, find a product that can solve that problem. Otherwise, you will see how your people start to lose attention to you little by little. And just because everyone on the internet is promoting some product and you started doing the same thing is not a justification. Again this is very basic, but this is a principle, not a tactic - so you can take it seriously. If products' relevance to your people will be high, it will not only make you more money. It will have a long term impact on your journey: people will care more about what you are going to say to them will be waiting for your next offer as an old friend they have not seen for a year as a result, they will trust you more and recommend you to others as an authority that truly understands others’ needs. Finding great digital products in Context is not a difficult task. In the marketplace section, you can search and filter products based on your needs (type number of sales category, etc.) and can even ask the product creator to try the product you liked. Just go to contexter.org to find more on how to do it in the free affiliate marketing course you can take right now. Even if you do not use Contexter, that knowledge can give you important leverage in your affiliate marketing journey.
