Jamie Miller is a Mixed Martial Arts champion, Brazilian Jitsu Black Belt and domestic violence survivor advocate. After escaping a six-and-a-half-year abusive relationship, an experience that led to homelessness and temporary shelter placement with her daughter, Jamie rebuilt her life through martial arts, personal resilience, and an unwavering commitment to ensuring no woman walks that path alone. She went on to become an MMA champion and a two-time UFC Contender as well as the founder and head instructor of Philly Self Defense: an organization that makes self defense successful to all through workshops, corporate training, and community programs. Through Philly Self-Defense and her service across multiple city-wide boards and coalitions, our guest has provided court accompaniment, crisis resource navigation, safety planning, and trauma-informed self-defense education to survivors from every background.
