This episode is released with one heck of an update! For 17 months, Marjorie's adopted country, Taiwan, kept COVID at bay. This episode was recorded in April to let you know at the beginning of this podcast where Marjorie is coming from talking about traveling and living abroad while we're all (hopefully) rounding out this pandemic and also to provide a glimpse into how another country handled the situation and how citizens have responded differently in other cultures.

However, in May 2021, Taiwan had its first ever community spread of the disease. We decided to release this episode with a new intro, because the original information is still true and important: Taiwan did a remarkable job for over a year, and the response to community spread has been equally as efficient and hopefully as effective. That being said, please take all of Marjorie's comments about how life is so normal in Taiwan and the number of cases so low with a heaping grain of salt and feel free to roll your eyes! But even in a true pandemic situation, the way Taiwan is handling things is remarkable and worth talking about.
