Episode 252: Heavy-Duty Aftermarket Week in Grapevine, Texas is the time and place where Manufacturers and Distributors come together to find ways of supporting the independent service channel and the trucking industry. This year I got to sit down with some of the best in the business to talk about how advances in technology and new regulations impact the heavy-duty parts and service industry.
One subject that came up several times was the recent announcement from the EPA about the new targets to further lower emissions on diesel engines manufactured in 2027 and beyond. As with previous EPA regulations, this is going to impact the design and performance of the engines and historically these changes have added complexity that drive up fleets total cost of operation. It has also created challenges for the independent parts and service channel.
