The church of Corinth was the worst possible group of born-again Christians. For example, they tolerated gross immorality, and when they weren’t getting divorced, they were suing each other and getting drunk at the Lord’s Supper! Their opinion of the great apostle Paul was that, in person, he was unimpressive and that his preaching amounted to nothing. Paul concludes his loving but truthful letter to the church by telling them what they need to aspire to in order to become the most blessed and best of all churches.
