Some things are negotiable, such as the funding of social programs and Public Works projects, but other matters are fundamental facts of the universe. These things are not political. These things are not partisan. These things are not matters of opinion.  This is truly a come-to-jesus moment for the Republican Party because whether or not they will continue to be irrelevant to the political process and the political conversation in this country depends on whether they can find the strength and rationality to accept these fundamental facts of the world we live in.
