I've been doing taxes for along time, and I know that MISTAKES HAPPEN.   This is totally normal, we are human. ;)   But, it is important to know all of the positives and negatives to amending a return before doing so, so that you have everything in order.   It is not bad to amend a return, but you do then have a greater chance of being audited and you need to ensure you have all receipts and documentation that will prove your expenses, income, etc.
