The "Parable of the Talents" or "pounds" as Luke called them is about God's economy. In one sense, God is a capitalist. A capitalist is one who invests capital (something of value) in the hopes of obtaining a profit. In the economy of man there is always a possibility of risk associated with any investment. There are always winners and losers. But, in God's economy, there is no risk of loss, unless, we fail or refuse to invest the capital God has given us. To be profitable in God's economy you need to understand the value of what God has given you. You need to understand the purpose of the gifts and calling of God and you need to invest the gift - You can't lose!
