In this week’s episode, John interviews Dr. Karen Barnard. Growing up in South Africa, Dr. Barnard completed her medical degree in Johannesburg. She moved to the U.S. where she completed her residency and fellowship training in internal medicine and endocrinology. She spent years working and practicing her specialty in academia. However, she gradually developed a desire to move in a new direction and became interested in coaching. She pursued formal instruction and became a certified coach. She now spends much of her time as a career coach for physicians. During the interview, Karen talks about her career journey and how she loves helping other professionals work through their career transition. Then we discuss some of the common challenges her clients face and the tactics she teaches to help clients find a fulfilling new career.
