Welcome to the final episode of the ‘How to be your Possible Self’ podcast series. I’m going to suggest a few books—not many—that you should invest in for your journey to success, however you define success.
AS COUNTLESS PHILOSOPHERS AND human potential experts have said over the centuries, we are what we think about.
The thoughts that dominate our mind are the ones that set us on the paths that we take through our lives. Our thoughts can, if we are not careful, keep us in our ruts and shield us from the new, the exciting, the rewarding.
Where we are in our lives now is a direct result of what we have thought about all our lives; what we have thought about ourselves, our environment, our family, our jobs, our friends, our deservedness, our rights, our limits, and our potential.
We can change the direction of our lives by changing our thoughts. As I have repeated before, this idea is not new. Indeed, the idea has been around for centuries.
In the last episode we looked at the first seven steps to effective goal setting. Here we look at the second set of steps, where our major goal starts to take shape and we get into the nitty gritty of making sure we will achieve it.
Welcome to another episode of ‘How to be your Possible Self’.
In today’s episode we are going to look at the first seven steps of goal-setting. Consider it an introduction to what goal-setting is and how powerful it can be when followed correctly.
G’day, and welcome to another episode of ‘How to be your Possible Self’.
Today, we’re going to look at the concept of Identity.

IN THE PREVIOUS podcast episode, I introduced the term Cognitive Dissonance and commented we can recognise it in ourselves when we are doing, receiving, or experiencing something we don’t believe we deserve.
Some people are more able than others to handle this mental conflict. Why? Well, possibly the answer comes back to the time their beliefs were being formed.
Which is exactly what you'll learn about in this episode of the 'How to be your Possible Self' podcast.
We are born into this world with a rudimentary sense of self that determines how we react to and with others. Through a process of trial and error, we refine our expectations of ourselves and our world to the point where we apply filters to limit the amount of information bombarding us through our senses.
These filters, in turn, dictate our behaviours. It is vital to know what your filters are, why you have them, and what benefits and costs your self-made rules for living deliver to you.
We also look at the histories of Thomas Kuhn, Galileo, John Harrison and some of the various Inquisitions (including the Spanish Inquisition so beloved of Monty Python fans) to discover what lessons we can learn from their experiences.
Welcome back to the 'How to be your Possible Self' podcast series.
Last time, we considered how to paint a picture in your mind’s eye about the sort of life you want to lead, how to define success for you, and the importance of the PCA formula—Passion, Commitment, and Action.
In this episode, we will consider the outline of a strategy to get you where you want to be. We’ll also consider the importance of your mental state.
Welcome to the ‘How to be your Possible Self’ podcast. In this podcast series we will look at how you can become the ‘you’ you always dreamed you could be. You’ll examine what’s holding you back from success and create a plan to move you forward towards your dreamed-of future.
Now, a word of warning. This is NOT one of those American get-rich-quick schemes. I’ve investigated some of those companies as part of my research, I even joined a couple of Multi-Level Marketing, or MLM, companies, to see first-hand what they get up to. Those sort of companies behave like evangelical Christians from the US. There’s much shouting of positive phrases, singing of positive and upbeat songs, much hype about how much you can make, but very little about how much you pay to be a part of it all—including how much stock and paperwork you need to have on hand. Then there’s the driving all over the place to meet with prospect clients, usually a waste of your fuel. The companies tell you what to wear, what to say, how to be a good little distributor or consultant, or whatever they call the people at the bottom of the run. Did you know that despite their tales of riches, only around 1% of an MLM company’s Independent Consultants make enough money to leave their jobs and drive their company-awarded cars? No, not good, and certainly not the sort of detail they tell you when you join.
My book skips the evangelical and the shady practices. Instead, it spells out clearly and succinctly how you can move from where you are in life to where you want to be. Not just your location, if that’s what you want, but the sort of partner you want to attract, the sort of house and home you want, the sort of car you want to drive, the sort of holidays you want to take, the sort of lifestyle you aspire to.
