There are no right or wrong answers… and I don’t just want christian men, so if a guy cusses we will edit it out if its really bad. 

You are the kind of person that complains about the weather. You can’t do anything about it. And yet what you can change you still complain about, but do nothing to change. You my friend are the definition of a fools fool. 

In Psalm 100:2, it says to ‘serve the Lord with gladness.’ Deuteronomy 10:12 says, ‘Serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.’ Joshua says, ‘As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord’ (Joshua 24:15). And Paul in Romans 12:11 also tells us to ‘serve the Lord.’ 

What we miss in these verses is the idea behind serve… it doesn’t just mean wash peoples feet or serve at the church… it is speaking of your whole being walking in alignment of who God wants you to be. You serve him in every area… 

I recently had a couple in counseling and the man said “Would you please shut up, I am trying to communicate”.   And there in lies the problem. You can’t even see what you can change thinking you are in fact changing that and at the same time practicing the exact behavior that you need to change. 

What does it take to truly serve the Lord, to truly change… yes God, yes forgiveness, yes salvation, yes the Holy Spirit, yes prayer, scripture… but to change REALLY REALLY CHANGE… you have to honestly ask God what you need to change. Ask God to reveal to you what you need to change.

In my church plant years ago a young girl came to Christ… she was marvelously transformed at the Altar. We prayed and talked for a few minutes and one of her questions was about what to do now… I explained a few things about how to read and pray and disciple yourself… But one of the things I said was to ask God what you need to give to him in order to be more like him…. Or something like that. 

The next Sunday she comes in with 2 big garbage bags and puts them up by the altar… I asked her what they were - she reminded me of our conversation last week and said she asked God what she needed to give to him and it was the majority of her clothing… she dressed very provocatively… so when God said you need to give me your clothes and your style etc… she assumed she should bring it to church and put it at the altar. 

The innocence and desire to change…to do anything to change to be more intimate with Jesus… wow. I was totally convicted. 

What do you need to change in order to change? Honesty with yourself and with God… I dare you to ask him to open your eyes and show you what you really need to change. And the conviction to act on it.
