Welcome to Episode 21. This week I am introducing our month long "31 Days of Self-Care Program" that kick starts on October 1st 2023. This series is in relation to Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) here in Australia where this  years theme for 2023 is 'We all have a role to play.' 

The reason for this mammoth 31 day episode program, besides highlighting MHAM, is because I am a big mental health advocate. I know what it's like to be mentally unwell and have been trained in supporting others and their mental health. I felt like it was a good opportunity to really draw some focus on how looking after ourselves has multiple benefits, and while we will explore the MHAM theme in a couple of the episodes, mostly, these 31 days are all about your own self-care practices that you can utilise for both mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

Most of the episodes are going to be short - less than 10 minutes of listening. But that is only part of the program. The rest relies on you. You'll be encouraged to try out every tip, technique or action over the next 31 days. Of course, you are free to mix and match, choose to do or not, but I encourage you to give every one a go if you can. You might surprise yourself to find that you fall in love with something you might have easily discounted. This is 31 days of exploration, compassion and self love.  You are worth the chance to find a strategy that challenges and changes you.

In this episode, I'll go over what you can expect over the next 31 days, the types of things we'll be doing and how I've broken the month up into 7 different topics, for each day of the week. They are:

Soulful Sundays, Mindful Mondays, Talk Tuesdays, Wellness Wednesdays, Thankful Thursdays, Fitness Fridays and Stress-Less Saturdays. 

From creative endeavours like journalling, art and creating playlists  to meditations that have you tuning into your sensors, to tapping and yoga, and adventure walks, and cleaning house, there are 31 different ways to practice self care for all aspects of your life. 

Be sure to follow this podcast so you don’t miss a day. And even if you miss days here and there - no worries - just pick up when and where you can. There is no expectation that you must do all 31 days - they are there for you to try if you want to. I’d encourage you to try as many as you can and see what works for you and what doesn’t.
