Today we are tackling the actual technique of evaluating, processing and enforcing healthy boundaries.
And if you haven't done this yet--definitely go check out the FREE boundaries assessment for you that you can take as you listen to the series. So download it now and then jump in to the conversation. Just go to nicoleunice.com/boundaries and grab it now--and then come back and listen in to the series.
OK, let's review why we would do the hard work of creating and enforcing boundaries:
Because boundaries gives us the freedom to be responsible for our lives.
It's a tragic mistruth that somehow having boundaries makes you a selfish person. That as a Christian, you are supposed just use your treasure (time, money, resources, emotional energy) on whoever and whatever demands it.
Jesus didn't teach that. Check out Luke 14:
28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? 29 For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, 30 saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
Jesus teaches us to count the cost and use our treasures wisely.
On the show, we talk about four ways to practice boundaries:
Pay attention to anger, resentment, frustration
Find a role model
Practice little no’s first.
Work on your internal conversation
Accept other people's No’s.
Remember, why do the hard work? Because.
Boundaries allow you to move toward the life you want with freedom and peace.
