David’s life might seem generally okay. But it wasn’t until he was staring at himself in the mirror on the darkest days of his life, hearing God tell him, “David, I can’t fix this for you,” did he realize that he had to do something different to take control of his path.
David always seemed like the kind of guy who had everything figured out. He had an education scholarship, but he turned it down because he knew it wasn’t the right path for him. He eventually worked at becoming a pastor, but realized that he wasn’t meant to be confined to the four walls of a church. Even when he was young, he also had a lot of things going on – from sports to academics, from ministry work to other extra-curricular activities.
What he only realized later on was that he was filling his life with distractions because he wasn’t living a fulfilling life. He became a good husband, a great provider, and even got the usual things any guy would dream of – from the corner office to an amazing income. It wasn’t until he learned how to hold space to become who he truly wanted to be instead of merely ticking all the boxes of what society saw as success did he truly become happy.
