There is a moment in time as a panic attack is coming on and anxiety is starting to build that you can stop it in its tracks and prevent the anxiety from escalating into a full blown panic attack. The technique involves making a conscious effort to suppress the fear thought triggering the anxiety and then distracting your mind so it doesn't keep focusing on the fear thought.
