Fall, or Autumn, is in full swing and just like your wardrobe changes with the changing seasons, so should your diet! Why? Because your bodies also change throughout the seasons, so, eating cold foods or foods that are considered "yin" would be somewhat similar to wearing a bathing suit when the temperature is cold.
So what should one be eating at this time of year? As it starts to get colder, you need to nourish and warm the body from the inside, to balance the yin and the yang. If you're eating ‘cold’ foods, also known as yin foods, such as fruits, raw vegetables, salads and cold drinks, you're overpowering the yin, leaving yourself feeling cold from the inside out and more prone to getting sick. Therefore, the colder months are all about eating the grounding and nourishing yang foods that are going to balance our hormones, strengthen our immune system, boost our energy and feel well all rounded.
Adapting your diet to the seasons is crucial for your health and wellbeing, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This will allow you to feel energized throughout the day and avoid getting sick this winter!
