Looking at the life of John the Baptist and his relationship to Herod and Herodious we can see ourselves as we choose when we listen or don't listen to what God is saying.

Herod put his "conscience" in prison so he only had to listen to it when it was convenient and then finally he put his "conscience" to death. He thought that would free himself but it did the opposite.
