On today's podcast. I will be discussing how to pick a location. Welcome to the through the lens podcast. As I said the how to's are instructional episodes so as I explaining it. I'm actually doing this with you alright so the first thing that you need to do in order to find a location is to go on Google Maps or Google Earth I recommend using both but the first thing that you're gonna do when you're but when you're finding a location is you're going to.
00:37
Decide what you want the location be do you want it to be a moody location do you want it to be something let's say for art so let's say for example, if you're picking a location for a client then you're picking location based on their needs and wants if they have a specific place in mind all right because then if they have a specific place in mind not only do you have that place but you also have similar places in case that particular area is not available for use or what have you in addition to that if they don't have a place in mind you have those lists of places for the fact of the Go with that person and their personality, so if you know they're kind of edgy and adventurous then you would have something that you would have you pick a location that appeals to that.
01:23
Alright so the first thing that we're gonna do is we're gonna be on Google Earth alright and you're gonna find where you are all right, so you're gonna go to Google Earth and you're gonna you should have a in the top right of the app you should have three dots you should click that and tap my location all right now with Google Maps why I like using it in addition to Google or I'm sorry Google Earth in addition to using Google Earth with Google Maps with Google Earth, you have the ability to place it in 3d so you can see buildings.
01:58
And streets and roads and structures in 3d now obviously it's not perfect but it's a pretty darn good replica so you can get an idea of what your location that you want or may want to shoot at will look like in addition to that you can throw on a street person in street view from most areas that you're looking at so what you're gonna do is you're gonna find my location and let's say for example.
02:20
I want to find a place that's, Let's find a place for me. I just want to find something new. I've never I've never really taken pictures by rocks or by bridges, so that's what I'm gonna find. I'm just gonna go on maps and I'm looking to maps right now and in the little search bar.
02:40
I'm gonna type in bridge. And we're gonna see if there are any nearby whoa and we're gonna see if there any nearby bridges that'll pull up for. Hattiesburg. And because that's where I'm at right now if not that's fine, but I think I found one nope and the wrong spot so I gotta go back to my location.
03:03
And we're just going to zoom out a little bit. And we're gonna have it in 3d and we're just gonna zoom out a little bit and we're just gonna look for you know bodies of water because typically that's where bridges are alright so I found some bodies of water, but I'm not seeing any bridges quite yet.
03:25
I think I found a bridge yes. I found a bridge now. And you know, you you can't exactly see bridges quite perfectly eating the building for that matter, but you can get a pretty good idea of what they look like alright, so I'm gonna try to put this in street view.
03:43
If I can and I am able to do that and if you ever zoom in while you're on Google Earth, you may notice little circles instead of lines in areas and that when you click on those those that gives you a 360 area so right now just clicked on this that little dot and I'm actually under or actually beside the bridge all right and I'm seeing a little roadway a really really looks like the area where you if you had a truck in a boat you put the boat into the water.
04:12
And then I'm also able to you know, like I said, you're also able to see 360 there's a wall on the other side of what I'm looking at you may you
