The police attracts perfectionists, especially CID, where the need for the attention to detail is crucial in solving complex investigations. Perfectionism is compounded by the fact that our work is seen and criticised very publicly.

Perfectionism leads to burnout though.

Perfectionists spend a lot of time in overwhelm, which leads to procrastination which results in a drop in productivity, which for us high achievers is a real issue.
