Insurance companies for some reason, either knowingly or unknowingly, mess with the claimant in my opinion. They will add the repair shop to their insurance settlement case for no legal reason. This also happens when at fault insurance companies send a check to the claimant with their name and the hospital name on same check. This is not right and you must demand nicely that they re-issue the check in your name. On property damaged motorcycles or cages the insurance company MUST add bank as payee if they have a lien on the bike. The motorcycle is the collateral for the loan and they are trying to make sure you don't take the cash and dump the bike afterwards.
