Today on the podcast I have, Andrew Jordan Nance. He is the founder of Mindful Arts San Francisco, whose mission is to provide volunteer mindful educators to teach at underserved San Francisco Schools.
He has been an educator for over 25 years. Nance is also an award-winning actor and director. For almost thirty years he taught performing arts to students from diverse backgrounds and for 18 years he was the Conservatory Director at San Francisco’s New Conservatory Theatre Center. He is on the Board of Directors of several educational– based non– profit organizations including the Mindful Life Project in Richmond California, San Francisco’s New Conservatory Theater Center, and Arts Ed Matters, a California– based arts– integration organization.
His four popular Mindfulness books are PUPPY MIND, MINDFUL ARTS in the CLASSROOM and THE LION IN ME, THE BAREFOOT KING,
Mindful Arts San Francisco is a volunteer-based organization that provides literary and arts-based mindfulness instruction to youth. Nance also offers training and assemblies around the globe for libraries, schools, and school districts to provide the principles of mindfulness to students and staff. His mindfulness training comes from Mindful Schools, Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Omega, and Esalen. A graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, for almost two decades, he was the Conservatory Director of The New Conservatory Theatre Center, providing educational theater experiences for thousands of Bay Area youth and adults.
