God's presence in our lives is something we as believers should seek above all else. Developing a close, personal relationship with Him allows us to hear Him speaking directly to us when we need to hear from Him. Believing that God wants to spend each day with us allows us to experience His love, in both good and bad times, regardless of what mistakes we may have made. Knowing God is not the same as knowing about Him; a genuine relationship with Him teaches us that He is always ready to encourage us and show us mercy, not to punish or condemn us, when we slip and fall. We enter into this relationship when we get born again, and strengthen it by deliberately focusing on God instead of on all the things that happen around us. Walking through life with Him strengthens us and gives us peace and allows Him to guide and direct us. Faith in God's love allows us to know Him the way He wants us to.
