Serial Stress Killer

How to identify (and deal with) Stupid sh_t

Listen Later

Why do we spend so much of our time and energy focusing on the stupid stuff that doesn’t really matter, when we have so much stuff going on? Why do we spend our time worrying and allow it to mess with our heads and fill us with dread? Why do we beat ourselves up with stupid thoughts when we should be focusing on positive things.
These are all great questions and in today’s episode of the Serial Stress Killer Podcast, Chris rallies against the stupid shit that’s dragging you down and preventing you from enjoying life. All it does is add to your misery and stop you getting stuff done. So banish it.
Remember “Stress is the enemy and you are the killer.”
KEY TAKEAWAYS
The frustration that you feel when the internet breaks or you hear those niggling comments from your family or friends. When you have a big and serious distraction in your life that demands all of your time and energy you are suddenly able to relegate all of those stresses to the back of your mind with relative ease. When this happens you don't toss and turn at night about the stupid stuff you've been worrying about because you've actually got some real problems to deal with.
When we have something bigger to deal with we can perspective and understand the severity of the problems we need to deal with. So why do many of us seem to forget these nuggets of wisdom during the day to day when we have the most time and energy to deal with them?
Stupid shit is triviality with teeth. It's where you develop an emotional response or a trigger that doesn't impact on anything other than your ego. It's spending hours thinking about something that shouldn't bother us. Do you think people in war-torn countries worry themselves with trivial things? If you ever find yourself thinking about stupid shit you need to be able to spot it. When you can do this quickly and effectively you will stress about things a lot less. We need to look at the bigger picture
There are two main categories of stress.
- It’s somebody else's bullshit
- It’s circumstantial
BEST MOMENTS
“We can be utterly moronic at times.”
"Why allow somebody else's words to ruin your day"
“You have to be able to let go of the frustrations very quickly”
