Dr. Krueger emphasizes that FFA is indistinguishable from lichen planopilaris on histopathology and also appears clinically similar to traction alopecia. Therefore, dermatologists should be familiar with the various clinical findings associated with FFA in order to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis, particularly in women with skin of color.
