Publisher's Summary:
With the advent of the modern corporate workplace in the twenty-first century, more and more people are toiling away behind desks, wearily clocking the standard forty-hour week. By 1910, writer Arnold Bennett had observed a worrying trend of exhausted wage-earners whose waking hours revolved around their jobs and who had little time to spend on the business of actually living. Self-improvement was Bennetts prescription for a speedy escape from the woes of the rat race. In his popular work How to Live on 24 Hours a Day, he advised those starved for time to set manageable goals for themselves and to pursue fulfilling activities - in much the same way that modern self-help experts urge todays busy people to seek enlightenment, relaxation, and satisfaction in a chaotic world. Take a break from your busy day and let Arnold Bennetts still-fresh advice help you find the contentment and calm you seek.
Members Reviews:
Old school, but valuable. Short and to the point.
Quirky author from a different age, but still excellent advice that I will work to incorporate into my daily life.
You'll find something useful in this short book
An interesting insight into how little has changed in 100 years with respect to leisure time and happiness. Bennett outlines some good principles for daily life (and quite amusing). It's a short book that takes an evening to read. Some great snippets/quotes in there too.
Five Stars
Great Book...very enlightening.
Five Stars
Great product
Good quick book
I must confess I've downloaded the book for my Kindle because it was for free and the title was a little catchy.
And honestly was not expecting to much about it as generally free books with catchy title are usual a deception (at least I had this experience before).
But after start reading it it was a nice surprise!
Smooth, clear reading, and although it doesn't offer any miraculous receipt (as the author himself mention), it offers in my opinion quite interesting and and helpful tips.
Also another surprise was the fact that the tips and assumptions, even taken into consideration the time leap since it was written till now, are also quite actual.
In a summary I recommend the reading!
