How to make gentrification work for everyone

Listen Later

Guests: Earni Young, Jonathan Tannen, Emily Dowdall
Gentrification is complicated. The term has a negative connotation, evoking images of the privileged class displacing lower-income residents who have long lived in neighborhoods that have suddenly become desirable. But on the flipside, more money coming into the city is good for the economy and results in more tax dollars to pay for city services. Today on the show, we’ll discuss how to mitigate the detrimental aspects of gentrification while still encouraging economic growth. We’ll be joined by former Philadelphia Daily News reporter EARNI YOUNG, economic consultant JONATHAN TANNEN, and Chief of Development and Policy Implementation for Policy Solutions at the Reinvestment Fund, EMILY DOWDALL.
