When we picture meditation practice, some people often imagine being seated on a lily pad surrounded by lotus flowers under a waterfall. While this sounds idyllic, it’s certainly not indicative of modern meditation.

Meditation is a practice we can all enjoy in our everyday lives. Modern meditation is about focusing the mind rather than clearing it, and can be practised for as little as a few minutes each day. As Fernwood resident yogi, Mental Health First Aid Instructor and Empower Coach Emma explains, meditation can be experienced seated, walking, or even while watering the plants.
