How To Find Your Dream Job
Our lives are like google maps sometimes because if you don't put the destination address on google maps then you cannot complain that you're not at the right destination and you cannot say google maps is not working properly.
Our careers are the exact same way. If you don't know where you're going then all the effort you're putting in is a waste of effort, time and energy.
Never Ever Reveal Your Salary
The first rule of thumb is never, ever reveal your current salary. Never tell an exact number for your salary.
Your salary expectations should always be in ranges. For example, say I'm a software developer in Chicago.
So when you go to glassdoor for example, it will tell you what's the minimum salary, medium salary and the maximum salary that you can get for the particular job.
Say for this example, a software developer, I found out 120K is the minimum, 130K is the medium and then 145K is the maximum.
What I would do is, I'll use the medium as my lowest standard, my lower scale and I would say "hey I'm expecting between 130K to 145k".
That's the salary I'm expecting.
You're analytically and strategically asking for it because you already did the research.
That is how I've increased my salary exponentially by over 150 percent over the past 15 years and my clients have increased their salary by over 400%. Always tell your salary expectations in ranges.
I want to do something special for your listeners so I have a special link which I created for the When It Worked podcast audience.
When you buy the paperback from amazon I am going to send you the ebook for free so the only thing you need to do is just send me a screenshot of the receipt and then I'm going to send you the ebook for free. You will get both the book and the ebook for less than 50% of the price
Also as an added bonus I have a special code for just podcast listeners to get 50% off from my online shop as well and that is my way of saying thanks for all your support.
