So often, when Christians are sad, other well-meaning but tone-deaf Christians will simply slap a Romans 8:28 bandaid to try and make their brother feel better. Often that just does not cut into the issue. Looking into the broader context of the passage helps us see the value of the greater part of Romans 8 in fighting depression.
