James 4:2,3 – "You want what you don't have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can't get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don't have what you want because you don't ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don't get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure."Many Christians don't receive from God simply because they don't ask Him for anything! These people ask (or expect) to get their needs met through other channels. Here in these verses we see that even in the act of 'asking God for it' such people were self-centred, and focused on the wrong motives. James says, "You do not have because you do not ask." This is clearly a reference to personal prayer. Therefore, to many of people it does not even occur to them to ask God for help of any kind.
