    Burnout is a state of mental and physical exhaustion that can remove the joy out of your career, friendships, and family interactions. If left unaddressed, burnout can make it difficult for an individual to function well in their daily life. In this episode, Heather and I discuss how to remove the guilt and shame from resting during periods of burn out and various modalities that will assist you to live a more meaningful life.


    Guest Bio:

    Heather Brittain is an experienced registered nurse, certified holistic wellness coach, aspiring author, global meditation teacher, and owner and founder of Bare Root Health.

    Heather takes pride in holding a Master of Science in Nursing with a Concentration in Public and Global Health Nursing. She has won awards such as the Nursing Leadership Award, the Nursing Excellence Award, and the Peer Recognition Award. In the process of pursuing her advanced degree, she was proudly noted as the Student Nurse Ambassador and Tutoring Chair Officer.

    More noteworthy, Heather has recognized a large gap in nursing and medical culture, leaving nurses and healthcare professionals burned out and wading the deep depths of compassion fatigue. After coming face to face with her own personal mind and body battles, and significant health complications throughout her professional career as a nurse, Heather chose to take a stand and begin healing work for healers.

    Heather received her certification in Holistic Wellness Coaching through the International Association of Wellness Professionals. Her education in coaching is accredited through the International Coaching Federation, American Association of Drugless Practitioners, Canadian Health Coach Alliance, and the UK health Coaches Association. She has taken this extensive education blended with personal experience to become owner and founder of Bare Root Health.

    Her pride and passion is helping nursing students and registered nurses to reprioritize their own mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing through high-level 1:1 coaching. She is the creator of Raise the Root: The Nurses 12 Week Guide to Mind & Body Healing and can also be found on the free global meditation app Insight Timer as a meditation teacher.
