Every time this happens to me, my go-to is to tell my mind that enough is enough and every time this does not work.

Fortunately I do have some tried and true techniques that do.

Before we can stop thinking about the argument or the thing that has upset us we need to process it. You may be thinking you don't have time for this step, but trust me, this will take FAR less time to do then having your mind on its rote little activity of repeating the same phantom conversation in your mind.
