Hola! Wir - Das sind 25 Geographie-Studierende der Master Vertiefungsrichtung Entwicklungsforschung - sind zu Gast in der heutigen HowToSDG Podcastfolge. Passend zu den 17 SDGs waren wir 12 Tage lang auf Forschungsreise in Argentinien. Dort haben wir uns intensiv mit dem Thema „Translokale Krisen und regionale Alternativen“ beschäftigt und verschiedene Institutionen, LandwirtInnen und ExpertInnen besucht. Unsere Leitfragen dazu waren:
Wie zeigt sich das Spannungsfeld zwischen Agrobusiness und alternativen Formen der Lebensmittelproduktion und -Verteilung im Untersuchungsgebiet Viedma und Valle Inferior?
Mit der heutigen Folge wollen wir euch einen kleinen Einblick in unsere Ergebnisse und die Erlebnisse in Argentinien geben. Wir wünschen euch viel Spaß beim Anhören!

Schaut man aktuell in die Nachrichten, begegnet einem nahezu immer eines dieser Themen: Hitzewellen, Dürren, Unwetter und Überschwemmungen, Waldbrände und vieles mehr. Besonders in diesem Jahr bekommen wir deutlich zu spüren, dass die Folgen des Klimawandels bereits in vollem Gange sind – und wissen gleichzeitig: Wenn wir jetzt nicht die Klimaerwärmung eingrenzen, dann kommt eine Welt auf uns zu, die noch viel stärker von Naturkatastrophen, Hungersnöten, Migration und anderen Krisen geprägt sein wird, als sie es heute bereits ist. Da erscheint es nicht verwunderlich, dass sich viele Menschen mit Blick auf ihre und die Zukunft kommender Generationen Sorgen machen oder sogar Angst verspüren: Klimaangst. Was genau sich hinter dem Phänomen der Klimaangst verbirgt und wie sie vielleicht sogar eine Chance sein kann, darüber sprechen wir in unserer neuen Folge mit Psychologin und Psychologists-for-Future-Mitbegründerin Katharina van Bronswijk. Als Podcast-Team haben wir außerdem vor ein paar Monaten das Stück „Atmen“ im Innsbrucker Kellertheater besucht, das die Frage thematisiert, ob man denn heutzutage überhaupt noch guten Gewissens Kinder in die Welt setzen kann?! Wie die DarstellerInnen sowie die Regisseurin darüber denken, könnt ihr ebenfalls in der neuen Folge hören.

Das lange Warten hat ein Ende - wir sind zurück mit neuer Folge und neuem Team! Diesmal: Wie schaffen wir die Energiewende? ️
Zu Gast ist der Energiegeograph Prof. Dr. Sören Becker. Mit ihm sind wir der Frage nachgegangen, wie wir eine nachhaltige Energiewende schaffen, welche Rolle der Krieg in der Ukraine auf den Transformationsfortschritt hat, und ob es überhaupt „saubere“ Energie geben kann.
- Wieso brauchen wir weiterhin Gaskraftwerke?
- Erhöht sich durch die Energiewende die Blackout-Gefahr?
- Ist Atomkraft eine taugliche Brückenenergie für die Energiewende?
Außerdem freuen wir uns sehr, dass unser Team um drei neue, super engagierte Geo-Studis reicher ist! Marc und Lisa sind direkt in die Podcast-Technik eingestiegen, und haben unsere neue Folge geschnitten und an der Tonqualität gefeilt, während sich Anna als redaktionelles Allround-Talent bewiesen und zudem Intro und Outro eingesprochen hat.
Mit Lebensmitteln hat man jeden Tag Kontakt. Aber wie viel noch Genießbares landet in der Mülltonne? Gemeinsam mit Verena von Foodsharing Innsbruck unterhalten wir uns über Lebensmittelverschwendung und darüber was „Foodsaver:innen“ eigentlich sind. Außerdem erzählt sie uns von ihrem Beitrag für einen bewussteren Umgang mit Nahrungsmitteln und wie sich ihr Konsumverhalten seit ihrem Engagement bei Foodsharing verändert hat.
Wie funktioniert das globale Ernährungssystem? Welche Probleme treten dabei an verschiedenen Ecken des komplexen Netzes auf? Wieso wird nicht einfach alles, was umweltschädlich oder sozial katastrophal ist, verboten? An welchen Stellschrauben können und sollten wir drehen, um ein sozial verträgliches und zukunftsfähiges Ernährungssystem zu erreichen? Mit Humangeograph Ulrich Ermann gehen wir diesen und weiteren Fragen in dieser How to SDG!-Folge auf den Grund.
Der Schnee in den Alpen schmilzt! Gemeinsam mit Verena und Jenny von der NGO „Protect our Winters“ (POW) sprechen wir darüber, wie Wintertourismus klimafreundlich gestaltet werden kann. Wir beschäftigen uns mit der Zukunft des Wintersports, wie sich POW dafür einsetzt und was die Organisation sonst noch so macht.
Wir sind zurück! Wolfgang Andexlinger ist Leiter des Amtes für Stadtplanung, Stadtentwicklung und Integration der Stadt Innsbruck. Mit ihm sprechen wir über das SDG 11, also wie Städte inklusiv, sicher, widerstandsfähig und nachhaltig gestaltet werden können. Am Beispiel der Stadt Innsbruck erfahren wir, wie Bürger:innenbeteiligung, Inklusion und eine klimafitte Stadt umgesetzt werden können. Was die Stadtbibliothek, das Campagneareal und der Bozener Platz mit SDG 11 zu tun haben, erfährst Du in dieser Folge!
Im Gespräch mit der Soziologin Beate Littig behandeln wir in dieser Episode SDG 8! Wir erfahren wie nachhaltige Arbeit definiert wird, was Green Jobs sind und welche Maßnahmen zur Schaffung eines fairen und gleichberechtigten Arbeitsumfeldes für alle eingeleitet werden müssen. Wir sprechen dabei auch über die Bedeutung von Wachstum für die Gesellschaft, wie ein Lebensstilwandel die sozialökologische Transformation bestärken kann und über das Privileg zu verzichten.
Das Konzept der Nachhaltigkeit hat seinen Ursprung in der Forstwirtschaft. Mit Anton Aldrian, Direktor der Höheren Bundeslehranstalt für Forstwirtschaft, sprechen wir über die bedeutungsvollen Aufgaben im Ökosystem Wald. Wir erfahren, welchen Herausforderungen unsere Wälder aufgrund der Klimakrise aktuell begegnen, wie sanfter Tourismus gestaltet werden kann und wie wir mehr Bewusstsein für eine nachhaltige Nutzung der Wälder schaffen können – damit der Wald auch in Zukunft Ressource und Erholungsort zugleich sein kann.
In Österreich sind Gebäude für ca. 14% der Treibhausgasemissionen und 37% des Energiebedarfs verantwortlich (Quelle: Uni Innsbruck, Forschungszentrum Nachhaltiges Bauen). Wie kann der Bausektor klima- und sozialverträglich gestaltet werden? In dieser Episode sprechen wir mit Dr. Wolfgang Streicher von der Universität Innsbruck wie Bauen auch energieeffizient möglich ist, was es mit Grauer Energie auf sich hat, ob Häuser recycelt werden können und wie sich der ökologische Fußabdruck unserer Häuser zusammensetzt.
