This is a quick Q&A response I gave for someone selling IT / Tech services into corporates.
If you want to do it well... you need to play the smart long game... Your decision maker will be getting tons of pitches every single day. They'll be battle hardened to sales pitches. They will ignore you if you aren't relevant. The No 1 thing... your prospect is used to being pitched by sales people.
So you have to do something different. Invest time (not 5 mins before the pitch) go build the relationships in advance.... We call is Account Based Social Selling.... We have a revenue sprint for BDMs / sales teams on this.... You don't have time to build relationships? Get ready for my rant.
