In this episode, R&B vocal coach Kristal Cherelle covers techniques she used to sing polyphonic overtones/throat singing influenced and inspired by the Xhosa people of South Africa and American Soul/Jazz/R&B singer Lalah Hathaway, with reference to Tuvan style Mongolian throat overtone singing.
This technique is recommended only to be tried by vocalists who have a strong technical foundation to avoid vocal injury.
Prerequisites include:
Full vocal control through your entire range without straining
Diaphragm breath support
Controlled vocal fry (without impacting voice negatively)
Make sure your voice is fully warmed up
