This is part II of a two part Interview with Melissa Indot
At 18, Melissa declared self-independence from the clutches she felt surrounding her. Guided by her hearts desires and burning passion to live her life as she saw fit, she left home and thus began her spectrum of discoveries. She fell in love, explored sexuality, travelled, made London her home and worked her way up as an administrative accounting clerk by day. Melissa opened herself up to her true passion - music! She sang for Universal Music Publishing and signed a record deal with an independent label in London.
Then, Melissa met with heartbreak! A decade into her journey in London, she found herself reassessing the root she planted in London as she journeyed a major transition in her personal and professional life. She found herself restarting from ground-zero with a blank slate! While this was true of her life in London, Melissa was sky rocketing into stardom in her homeland, Malaysia. She rode the pop-star wave home to Malaysia where she was accorded awards, rave reviews from the media and peers alike. She was Malaysia’s sizzling pop-star!
Melissa began DJ-ing too, weaving in her live singing and sets into her performances. This led her to perform globally across Asia and Europe. It was a fast road to a lavish lifestyle where she soon found herself intoxicated with excessive living - partying, drinking and drugs - all under the disguise of a social life and ‘happiness’. Melissa spun into addiction, fueling unhealthy patterns of a daily ‘detox and retox’ - trying desperately to find the balance between the two opposing worlds of night and day, shadow and light.
