Barry Keoghan gives a strong performance, and there are flashes of what the picture is attempting to achieve- tension, solitude, your father's faults, moral ambiguity- but none of it is entirely realized. Instead, it relies too heavily on shock value and lacks content. I can tolerate a dark, nasty narrative, but this was simply dreary for the sake of it. If you are sensitive to animal abuse, I strongly advise against it.
Overall, Bring Them Down is a fascinating and dramatic experience, merging emotion, suspense, and magnificent sights. I suggest it to everyone who enjoys a strong storyline and performances.
