I just watched The Astronaut and was captivated from the very first scene—a stunning wide shot of the ocean, with boats speeding as if they're rushing to avert an apocalypse—heading towards a downed space capsule that surely carries bad news. Kate Mara delivers a heartfelt and compelling performance as our Astronaut, and Jess Varley's direction was exhilarating—I found myself jumping in my seat multiple times! The film feels like a blend of Close Encounters and Predator, but with a deeper emotional resonance. All in all, it's a fantastic choice for a movie night!
