It never devolved into a pro-life MAGA narrative, nor did it romanticize abortion. It's a difficult and sorrowful choice for anyone to make. Individuals should have the right to choose not to have an abortion based on their moral convictions, just as others should have the right to choose to have one. Ruby Cruz's character was initially depicted as an "anti-abortion religious fanatic," but as the story unfolds, it reveals her fears and beliefs. She would criticize herself for considering an abortion, yet she never implies that she opposes the right to choose; rather, she simply feels it isn't the right choice for her. This film truly encapsulates what being pro-choice means: the choice.
