When it comes to succeeding at a gut reset or elimination diet, there's more work to be done on your thoughts than anything else. This quick episode will break down some serious mindset jujitsu that needs to be done in order to truly succeed and get optimal outcomes and transformation form the process.
How do I know?
Because over the past 10 years I have done more dietary changes, experiments and resets than I can remember!
From plant based to the autoimmune protocol, and literally everything in between, and I can promise you that the most important thing you can get a grip on is your thoughts and how they might be making things harder than they need to be.
The potential outcome of doing a gut reset, or challenging yourself to some kind of elimination diet is spectacular!
From gained energy, improved moods, sleep and motivation, mental clarity and focus, reduced anxiety and depression, balanced hormones so you feel calmer and like less of a snap show, weight loss, less exhaustion, reduced autoimmune symptoms, reduction in health concerns like type 2 diabetes or hypertension, reduction in risk of Alzheimer's and dementia, AND digestion and gut related symptoms like gas, bloating, IBS, reflux, etc.
There's also emotional healing that can happen after gaining clarity on how to eat to fuel your body in an up and clean way. As in, freedom from emotional and negative attachment to food and eating.
For me the emotional work was the most powerful shift I'd ever had when it came to eating and food, which for most of my adult life was full of struggle and a warped negative association.
Eating to fuel my body so it actually FELT GOOD was the first time I truly began to love and appreciate food and my body, and how it all worked together in a beautiful relationship. Food was no longer a way to numb out, punish myself, control myself, or restrict myself; instead it was a gift to my body.
Now I eat food that lets my body be the weight it wants to be so that it, and I, feel good and energetic and happy. And Scotty (husband with an autoimmune disease) eats to nourish his body so he's not experiencing symptoms of inflammation and gut dysbiosis, and continues to have his disease in remission.
This concept of eating, or "food is medicine" feels unique to Functional Medicine, and it's something that fills my heart with joy. Because I believe it could heal so many people; not only in their physical body, but also their emotional beliefs and ideas about who they need to be and how they need to look to be loved and accepted in this world.
So, YEAH to doing a gut reset!
