SHOW NOTES

What is a Vacation?

-Ashleigh and Kasey define a vacation as a time to adventure or unwind, depending on your preference and whatever you feel recharges you, but it must be somewhere outside of your norm.

When is a Good Time?

-An overarching rule as a salesperson is to stay away from traveling at the end of the quarter. -Plan ahead and look into how your company and roles work, from there choose the least stressful weeks to be gone. If you’re still not sure, your boss should have no problem answering when the best time to take a vacation would be.

Telling Your Boss

-Approach the subject of taking a vacation with a sense of humility and always be sure to bring it up sooner rather than later. A good rule of thumb is that if your trip is 3 days or less, you’re good to give 2-3 weeks notice, if it’s more than a week, make sure you give at least a month.

-Remember that you’re not asking for permission, you’re more negotiating the details. Tell them the dates you’re thinking about being gone, a little bit about what you’re doing, and the plan you have in place to make sure you don't miss quota.

What to Do on Vacation

-Bring a book or crosswords, whatever helps you to relax and completely shut down from your day-to-day life so that you can come back with more energy.
